This is a COMPLETELY FUNCTIONING early 1900’s lighter from the Eldred Manufacturing Company of Chicago.You will not be disappointed with this lighter! Rarely will you find an authentic Eldred brought back to life like this one. A few highlights:1) Completely functional spark coil with modern film capacitor (to accept current-day 6V battery power versus the original 4.5V dry-cell power)2) Beautifully finished quarter-sawn oak cabinet.3) The interior of the case has been sealed with linseed oil to protect the unfinished wood interior.4) New rubber feet included on the base.5) 3 Replica period-correct dry-cell battery holders to operate on 4 D-cell batteries (included).6) All wiring has been replaced with period correct cotton-braided copper wire, new spark wire and new porcelain insulator. Untitled Document Rare Antique Original The Wireless No.12 Eldred Mfg Jump Start Cigar Lighter I always look for rare and unusual items so be sure to put me on your favorite seller list and keep checking back. Here is a seldom seen original and complete early 1900's cigar lighter in good used condition with nice patina. It is said that these were sold to high end hotels and bars. The wood cabinet looks to be tiger oak. The way it works is the long wick absorbs fuel from the small tank and when pulled toward you a switch produces a spark from batteries in the back lighting the wick. When pushed back the wick is snuffed out. This was not tested. This still has one of the old batteries in the back like ones used on the early telephones. The brackets on each side of the fuel tank are marked: The Wireless No. 12, Eldred Mfg. Co., Chicago, Pat. Apl'd For. The metal parts appear to be nickel over brass and could be taken apart and cleaned if you wanted to. This is just as I found it minus some dust. This measures about 9 1/2" x 7 3/4" x 15 1/2" tall to the top of the igniter. This is a little heavy at 9 pounds boxed. This will be well packaged and insured just in case. This is for a stylish arts & crafts German silver petrol pocket lighter from the early 1900s. The silver has a fine hand beaten finish and a blue semi precious stone inset into the button on the side. This is a PERFECTLY FUNCTIONING reproduction of the iconic early 1900â??s Eldred M Wireless #12. The only noteworthy difference was in the spark coil itself. These Pioneer lighters included a more modern, and frankly inferior, spark generator than the original.
