Offered here are five Sports Series Period 5 Zippo lighters used as samples by a Zippo salesman. The Period 5 (1959-1970) Sports Series Zippos were the first series where the lids as well as case were engraved with the sports themes. The set consists of the skier, the trout fisherman, the golfer and the hunter plus a loss-proof version of the hunter with lanyard. They all have had DYMO labels with Zippo's model numbers attached to assist the salesman in the order taking process. The details of each lighter are as follows:The Skier (No .180 S) consists of a 1958 case and a 1963-67 insert. The insert has not been fired but has some corrosion on one side;The Trout Fisherman (No. 180 F) with a $4.75 price tag consists of a 1965 case and a 1963-67 insert. The insert looks like it has been fired a few times and it is missing some cotton balls;The Golfer (No. 180 G) with a $4.75 price tag consists of a 1965 case and a 1963-67 insert which appears to have been fired a few times;The Hunter (No. 180 H) consist of a 1958 case and a 1963-67 insert which has not been fired;The loss-proof Hunter with lanyard (No. 275 S) with a $5.00 price tag consists of a 1963 case and a 1963-67 insert which has not been fired.None of the cases show any signs of use and would be mint but for the attached labels. These lighters come from the David Poore Collection and no attempt has been made to remove the labels. This set would be a great addition to a high-end Zippo collection.
