This is a Colibri Kickstart lighter that was made in Switzerland in the 1920s [maybe the 30s]. You push the lever down to lift the arm, when you let go of the lever, it springs back and creates a good spark.

Silver jacket has 2 small Hungarian
silver hallmarks. Has original owner's initials worked into the design.
Lift arm has stamped marks:
Hungarian Crown and monogram logo.
Excellent to near-mint condition!
Small chrome plating loss by filler screw.

This Art Deco, Swiss petrol, pocket lighter is from 1929. Itâ??s a Colibri Kickstart, which has a mechanism that works by pulling the lever back and letting go, which flicks the flint wheel and lights the wick. This one has an 850 imprint on side which indicates 85% sterling silver. It has a very detailed embossed design on both sides of the lighter. It shows a rural scene of people gathered outside an old cottage. Itâ??s in good condition for its age and stands 2â? tall. It could use a good polishing. returns to the original position after operation and has the later
version enclosed spring, which is intact.

Straight from a house clearance: An old Colibri lighter. I have no knowledge of this sort of thing, but the interwebby seems to say that this style is known as a `Kick Start` lighter. It does not work, there is no spark, so possibly needs a service and/or parts. The kickstart and it`s spring move ok though. Very small nick to the mother of pearl just under the ball-end of the kickstart lever. All needs a clean.
